How I Fix Eyes Quickly in Lightroom Mobile (A Simple, Practical Workflow)
Most people overcomplicate eye adjustments in Lightroom Mobile. You don’t need presets, special tools, or a dozen sliders. When I’m editing portraits on my phone while travelling, I follow one fast, reliable method that brightens the eyes, sharpens detail, and keeps everything looking natural.
Here’s the version I use when I want good results in under a minute.
The Simple Three-Step Fix
1. Brush in the Iris and Whites
Open the Selective tool, choose Brush, and zoom in. All I ever do here is paint the iris and the whites — nothing more. Clean strokes, tight placement.
2. Lift the Light
Once the mask is in place, I add a gentle bump to:
- Exposure
- Shadows
- Clarity or sharpness (very lightly)
This pulls detail forward without giving the eyes that unnatural “edited” look. A slight touch of Saturation can enhance the iris, but I use it sparingly.
3. Match Both Eyes
I duplicate the adjustment and move it to the second eye. Symmetry is everything. If both eyes don’t match, the portrait feels off, no matter how good the rest of the edit is.
After that, I zoom out to full view and lower the strength if needed. At portrait distance, subtle edits always win.
Extra Tip: Keep It Real
If something looks off, it’s usually because the edit is too strong. Eyes should feel alive — not glowing. I’d rather under-edit and keep the expression believable than push the sliders and lose the image’s natural feel.
